Child Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation
At Oceanside Family Therapy we are well versed in working with children and adolescents. One topic that is gaining more recognition lately is sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
We support physical, psychological and emotional well being of all children and provide a Safe Space to explore all issues surrounding identity and orientation.
We do not generally advocate transformative surgeries for minors. Therefore, we do not provide letters to support surgeries for minors. However, we support the growth and development of each child to grow into a well adjusted adult who can decide, as a young adult, how to fully actualize themselves.
Adolescence is a time of self discovery and growth, for some people that is a linear journey and for others it is circular or weaving.
All children and adolescents need a safe space and at least one supportive, neutral adult during that journey. It is often very useful to have the support of a trained neutral therapist in addition to the support of the parents.
Currently offering Teletherapy throughout the state of Florida and certain other territories/countries and some Walk and Talk Therapy near Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Family sessions also available.
Nicole Story, EDS, MED, LMFT, LMHC, NCC, Clinical Director has been working with children and adolescents for over 20 years as a licensed mental health therapist and a licensed family therapist. She is also an Executive Board Member of the Guardian ad Litem, 4th Judicial Circuit and mom to 2 teenage children.
